Temporary Lane Closure Planned for I-26 Eastbound

The South Carolina Department of Transportation has announced that there will be continuous lane closures on two sections of I-26 eastbound starting today, April 15, 2024. The lane closures, expected to last a month, will allow contractors to work on two bridges that are being rehabilitated. During this time, traffic flow will be reduced to one lane at mile marker 65 (Indian Creek) in Laurens County and mile marker 83 (Palmetto Trail) in Newberry County.

Drivers are advised to plan ahead and brace for potential delays. Alternative routes are available, and oversize and overweight vehicles will be redirected accordingly. Slow down, be prepared for sudden stops and watch for uneven surfaces. Stay safe out there.
