Traffic Alert for East Tennessee and North Carolina

Due to the impacts of Hurricane Helene, significant closures are in effect along I-26 and I-40 across both North Carolina and Tennessee. The NCDOT is urging motorists to avoid traveling through western NC, and further closures are expected along major and alternate routes. Truck drivers currently in the area or planning to move through Tennessee and North Carolina should prepare for substantial disruptions.

Hurricane Helene Impact
On Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024, at 11:10 p.m. EDT, Hurricane Helene made landfall near Perry, Florida, as a Category 4 storm with winds reaching 140 mph, marking one of the strongest hurricanes in U.S. history. Helene’s path has brought widespread destruction across the southeastern U.S., causing catastrophic flooding, highway collapses, and tornadic activity.
