The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) is preparing for severe storms, heavy rainfall, and widespread flooding expected across Indiana starting Wednesday afternoon.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued flood watches for counties south of Terre Haute, Indianapolis, and Muncie, with potential for double-digit rainfall totals, flash flooding, and severe storms.
INDOT crews are working to clear drains and prepare roadways for potential closures due to flooding. Motorists are urged to follow road closure signs and avoid driving through high water—Turn Around, Don’t Drown. High winds and saturated ground may also cause downed trees and power lines.
