Emergency Declaration: Lake Livingston Dam Repair

Heads up for all of our friends operating in TX,
The Texas Department of Public Safety has declared a local emergency due to urgent repairs at Lake Livingston Dam on the Trinity River.  They have temporarily lifted the hours-of-service regulations to help keep critical supplies moving.

What This Means:

  • Relief Granted: Certain Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations are temporarily lifted for carriers aiding the repair efforts. This exempts carriers from the hours-of-service regulations outlined in 49 CFR Part 395.3 and applies to movement of supplies, personnel, and equipment.
  • Duration: 12:01 a.m. August 30, 2024, to 11:59 p.m. September 3, 2024, or until the emergency ends.

Note:
This exemption does not apply to drug/alcohol testing, CDL requirements, financial responsibility, hazardous materials regulations, state size and weight limits or carriers with Out-of-Service Orders.
